Hello,
Let me begin by introducing myself, my name is Marcin (pronounced
Mar-chain) and I am an assistant for Professor Stein's 6.096 class (I was
unable to atttend the first lecture for intro.'s). Congratulations to all
lottery winners (If your email address appears explicitly on the "to:" line
of this email, you probably already know if you went to class today that
you did not win the lottery). The course staff would like to apologize for
our lack of resources to accomodate any more students. All sections are
completely filled. However, please email us if you are interested in being
maintained on a waiting list. If you have an opening in your schedule on
thursday 2-5 you have an increased chance of being accepted from the
waiting list. So for all who are still interested, please email us and tell
us of your availability on MTWRF between 2 and 5. (Send email to
6.096-staff@ai.mit.edu after 2AM tonight , BTW if you have sent us email
lately and it bounced, please try again tomorrow). Furthermore, we invite
anyone who was lotteried out to attend lecture on Listener status with the
understanding that it will be expected that you not burden the staff's
schedule. The remainder of this email applies to individuals who won the
lottery.

LECTURES HAVE BEEN MOVED TO 66-110 AT THE SAME TIME( MW 11-12:30)
ALL LABS/WEEKLY SECTION MEETINGS WILL BE HELD IN 38-344

If you need to change the section time to which you were assigned please
send email to "las@ai.mit.edu".

LAB 1:
Be sure that you have a copy of the LAB 1 handout which was distributed in
class today, if you do not have a copy, visit the course web site at
http://www-cs101.ai.mit.edu/courses/fall97/

When visiting this site, be sure to reload often.

Pre Lab exercises must be completed before you schedules section time next
week or our bouncers will not let you into the lab and you will have to
reschedule your lab time and only be eligible for partial credit. The only
acceptable excuses from section are from the deans or the medical
department. Be sure to arrive to lab on time or you will be turned away. If
you are not accepting our
invitation to 6.096, please email us immediately!

I will be offering office hours on Sundays (this Sunday too) at noon. You
need to send me an email to marcin@mit.edu if you would like to attend so
we can discuss which classroom or where to hold office hours. I will
guarantee a reply to you if you send me the email before 11:30 AM this
Sunday.

I would like to get people to take and distribute good notes from the lectures.
If a student writes up good lecture notes for one lecture (in html) and gives
it to Todd within three days, they will earn a "drop lowest problem set" credit.
You must schedule to do this in advance (with las), and each student can only
have one problem set grade dropped.

Good luck,
-Marcin Strojwas
